Your calling card

Headshots that get you seen

Before a casting director hears you read, they see your photo, and they decide in seconds whether you fit the role.

I photograph actors at every stage, from people building their first portfolio to working actors refreshing their look. Every session has one goal: a natural, honest image that shows casting directors who you are and what roles you can play.

Natural styling

Casting needs to see exactly what you look like.

Expression first

Your expression shows the roles you could play.

Minimal makeup

Heavy makeup changes how you look on camera.

Honest retouching

Blemishes, cuts and stray hairs go. Freckles and moles stay.

The session

Time to get it right

I book only two sessions a day, one morning and one afternoon, so you’re never rushed. Being relaxed is the key to a great shot.

No time limit

We take as long as you need.

Unlimited outfits

Bring a selection and we’ll plan which to shoot.

Coaching

Guidance on expression and posing. Acting is very different to modelling.

Styles and backgrounds

A high-key studio lighting setup and several backdrops.

Crops and orientations

I’ll show you how a crop changes the feel of a shot.

Black and white

For the casting directors who still prefer it.

Review together

I’ll point out the shots casting is likely to respond to.

Casting-ready retouching

Edited to the industry’s rules on what can and can’t change.

We review the shots together, you pick your favourites, and they go to retouching.

Before your session

A few simple things make a big difference. Read the full preparation guide →

Clothes

Casual outfits usually work best for actors. Bring several options.

Colours

Classic tones like blue. Avoid white (unless under a jacket), bright colours and heavy patterns.

Accessories

Leave jewellery at home. It distracts from your face.

Makeup

Minimal. Light on the eyes, a little powder for shine. Booked a makeup artist? Arrive with a clean face.

Skin

Stick to your normal routine. Don’t try new products before the shoot.

Hair

Wash it the night before, not on the day. Bring your products.

Actor headshot FAQs

What are headshots for acting?

They’re portraits casting directors and agents use to judge whether you suit a role before calling you in to audition. They need to look like you on a good day, not a heavily styled version of you.

How much do actor headshots cost?

A session is $355. That includes your session with me, all coaching and equipment, and one fully retouched image. Additional retouched images are $65 each.

How long until I get my photos?

Your retouched images are delivered within 5 business days. A rush service is available if you need them sooner.

How do I choose a headshot photographer?

Look at their portfolio for consistency. If the lighting and style are similar from photo to photo, you know what you’ll get. Then call them before booking. You’ll take their direction during the shoot, so you need to feel comfortable with them.

What should I wear for acting headshots?

Casual clothes in solid, classic colours. Avoid white, very bright colours, heavy patterns and jewellery. Bring several options and we’ll choose together.

Should I wear makeup?

Keep it minimal. Light makeup on the eyes and a little powder to control shine is usually enough.

Will you retouch my photos?

Yes, but only temporary things like blemishes, cuts and stray hairs. Freckles, moles and other permanent features stay.

Can I use my headshots anywhere?

You can use them on casting platforms, social media and in prints for casting directors. Wider commercial use, like posters, needs a separate licence. Just ask and we’ll arrange it.

Do you offer pricing for acting schools?

Yes. Get in touch for group pricing.
